AFCON 2027 Safari Travel Planning – Tanzania Group Safaris

Lion feeding on an impala kill in the Tanzania wilderness

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) is scheduled for 19 June–17 July 2027, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda hosting the tournament. Football supporters visiting East Africa can combine their match experience with an affordable Tanzania group safari exploring Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.

Combining AFCON 2027 Matches With a Tanzania Safari

Arusha is the main departure point for our Northern Tanzania group safaris. Travellers attending football matches in Tanzania can arrange onward transport to Arusha before joining a scheduled safari departure.

Visitors travelling from Kenya or Uganda can also reach Arusha through suitable flight connections or overland transfers.

We recommend arriving in Arusha at least one day before your safari departure to allow sufficient time for transfers and avoid conflicts with match schedules.

Choosing Your Safari Duration

  • 3-Day Safari: A shorter itinerary visiting Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

  • 4-Day Safari: Additional time for wildlife viewing in Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

  • 5-Day Safari: A broader Northern Circuit experience combining Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

Booking Your Safari During AFCON 2027

Safari availability and prices depend on your travel dates, accommodation arrangements and confirmed group departures. Travellers visiting during the tournament are encouraged to book early, particularly when coordinating safari dates with football matches and international flights.

Contact East Africa Jungle with your preferred dates, number of travellers and selected itinerary to receive confirmed safari availability and pricing.

Experience three of Tanzania's most spectacular wildlife destinations during AFCON 2027. From Tarangire's elephants and baobab trees to Serengeti's famous predators and Ngorongoro Crater's remarkable wildlife, each destination offers something unique.

Tarangire National Park – Elephants & Baobab Trees

Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and diverse birdlife. During the June–October dry season, wildlife increasingly gathers near the Tarangire River, creating excellent game-viewing opportunities.

Explore Tarangire on our 5 Days Tanzania Group Safari During AFCON 2027.

Serengeti National Park – Big Cats & Great Migration

Serengeti National Park offers outstanding opportunities to spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and other wildlife.

During June and July, migrating wildebeest may be found across different parts of the ecosystem, depending on rainfall. Our group safaris primarily explore the wildlife-rich Central Serengeti, where game viewing is rewarding year-round.

Discover our 4 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari.

Ngorongoro Crater – Big Five & Scenic Landscapes

Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its spectacular volcanic scenery and concentrated wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos and occasionally endangered black rhinos.

Its diverse habitats make it one of Tanzania's most rewarding destinations for a single-day game drive.

Explore our 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari.

Why Visit All Three Destinations?

Tarangire offers exceptional elephant viewing, Serengeti is famous for big cats and seasonal migration activity, while Ngorongoro provides diverse wildlife within a spectacular crater.

Can Solo Travellers Join a Tanzania Group Safari?

Yes. Solo travellers can request one seat on an existing Tanzania group safari without booking an entire private vehicle.

Our shared safari arrangements allow guests to travel with other visitors while sharing transportation and guiding costs. The maximum vehicle occupancy is seven travellers, with window seating for everyone.

Accommodation arrangements, including whether a single tent or shared room is available and whether an additional charge applies, depend on the selected package.

Planning Your Safari Around AFCON 2027

The Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with matches hosted across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Football supporters can consider a three-, four- or five-day safari before or after their planned matches. Travellers with limited time may prefer a shorter itinerary, while those with additional days can explore all three Northern Circuit destinations.

Because group safaris depart from Arusha, allow sufficient time for transfers between your match destination, accommodation and safari starting point. Our planning team can help you identify suitable safari dates once your football travel schedule is known.

How to Check Group Safari Availability

To request a confirmed departure, email sales@eastafricajungle.com with your preferred safari dates, number of travellers, chosen safari duration and any relevant AFCON match dates.

Our reservations team will review available group departures, provide the applicable safari price and explain the booking arrangements.

We recommend checking availability before confirming non-refundable flights or accommodation, particularly during the AFCON 2027 travel period.

Tanzania Group Safari Accommodation – Budget Camping & Mid-Range Lodges

East Africa Jungle offers Tanzania group safaris with different accommodation options to suit your travel budget and comfort preferences.

Budget Camping Safaris

Our budget group safaris use designated public campsites in or near Tanzania's wildlife areas, depending on the itinerary.

  • Simba Public Campsite: Camping near Ngorongoro Crater.

  • Karatu camping: Used on selected longer Northern Circuit itineraries.

Guests stay in safari tents with camping equipment provided as specified in their package. Public campsites generally have shared bathroom facilities.

Budget camping is ideal for travellers seeking an affordable, adventurous wildlife experience.

Mid-Range Lodge & Tented-Camp Safaris

Travellers seeking additional comfort can request a mid-range Tanzania safari with accommodation in lodges or permanent tented camps.

Depending on the selected property, facilities may include private bathrooms, comfortable beds, restaurant dining and other amenities.

Mid-range accommodation is priced separately from our advertised budget camping packages and is subject to availability.

Shared 4×4 Safari Vehicles & Group Size

Our Tanzania group safaris during AFCON 2027 use shared 4×4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, designed for wildlife viewing across Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.

Each safari vehicle accommodates a maximum of seven travellers, with a window seat for every guest, allowing everyone to enjoy wildlife sightings, take photographs and experience Tanzania's landscapes comfortably.

What to Expect From Our 4×4 Safari Land Cruisers

Our safari vehicles are equipped with features suited to Tanzania's Northern Circuit game drives:

  • Pop-up viewing roof: Allows travellers to stand during suitable game-viewing stops and photograph wildlife from the vehicle.

  • Guaranteed window seating: Every guest has access to their own window seat.

  • Maximum seven guests: We limit occupancy to seven travellers per safari vehicle.

  • Professional safari driver-guide: An experienced guide handles driving, wildlife spotting and interpretation throughout the safari.

  • Four-wheel-drive capability: Suitable for the varied gravel roads and designated safari tracks found across Northern Tanzania.

Travellers must remain seated and follow their guide's instructions whenever the vehicle is moving.

How Does a Tanzania Group-Joining Safari Work?

A group-joining safari allows individual travellers, couples and small groups to reserve seats in a shared vehicle rather than booking an entire private Land Cruiser.

Guests follow the same confirmed itinerary, share game drives and travel together between safari destinations. This arrangement helps distribute vehicle and guiding costs among participants, making group safaris an affordable option.

Solo travellers are welcome to join existing departures, subject to available seats and the booking conditions of the selected package.

Explore our 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari or 4 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari to compare shorter shared safari experiences.

Luggage & Comfort During Your Group Safari

Because several travellers share the same vehicle, we recommend packing soft-sided luggage rather than large rigid suitcases.

Bring a small daypack for your camera, binoculars, sunscreen, drinking water and other essentials needed during game drives.

Luggage limits and any arrangements for storing additional bags in Arusha should be confirmed before departure.

For visitors planning a longer Northern Circuit adventure, our 5 Days Tanzania Group Safari During AFCON 2027 combines shared safari transportation with wildlife viewing in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

All group participants follow the agreed game-drive schedule, with wildlife stops coordinated by the safari guide according to conditions, park rules and the group's itinerary.

AFCON 2027 Football & Tanzania Safari Travel Planning

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) will take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda hosting the tournament. Football supporters travelling to East Africa can combine their match-day experiences with a Tanzania group safari to Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.

East Africa Jungle offers 3-day, 4-day and 5-day group-joining safaris departing from Arusha, allowing visitors to explore Tanzania's Northern Circuit before or after attending football matches.

Plan a Tanzania Safari Before AFCON 2027 Matches

Arriving in East Africa before your first scheduled match can provide an opportunity to explore Tanzania's national parks without rushing between destinations.

Travellers with three available days can consider our 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari, while those with additional time may prefer a four- or five-day itinerary.

We recommend allowing sufficient time after your safari for onward travel, accommodation check-in and any transfers required to reach your match destination.

Enjoy a Safari Between AFCON 2027 Matches

If your football schedule includes several consecutive days without matches you plan to attend, a Tanzania group safari may be possible.

Our 4 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Safari offers additional Serengeti game-viewing time, while shorter safari options may suit travellers with tighter schedules.

However, Northern Tanzania safaris involve substantial road transfers. Visitors should allow a realistic travel buffer and avoid planning a safari return immediately before an important match or international flight.

Explore Tanzania After AFCON 2027 Matches

Travellers who have finished attending their selected football matches can extend their East African holiday with a wildlife safari.

Our 5 Days Tanzania Group Safari During AFCON 2027 combines Tarangire's elephant-rich landscapes, Serengeti's wildlife-filled plains and a game drive in Ngorongoro Crater.

This option suits visitors who want to experience three distinctive safari destinations before returning home or continuing their journey elsewhere in East Africa.

Getting From AFCON Host Cities to Arusha

Arusha is the main departure point for our Northern Tanzania group safaris.

Travellers attending matches in Tanzania may need onward road or air connections to reach Arusha, depending on their match location. Visitors travelling from Kenya or Uganda should also account for international transfers, immigration requirements and possible flight connections.

Our team can advise on suitable safari departure dates and available transfer arrangements once your match city, arrival date and onward travel plans are known.

AFCON 2027 Safari Planning Checklist

Before booking your safari, confirm:

  • Your football match dates and host cities.

  • The number of days available for your safari.

  • Your preferred 3-day, 4-day or 5-day itinerary.

  • The confirmed group departure date and available seats.

  • Transfer arrangements to and from Arusha.

  • Your accommodation requirements and safari budget.

  • Sufficient time between the safari and your next match or flight.

Plan your AFCON 2027 Tanzania safari with East Africa Jungle. Email sales@eastafricajungle.com with your travel dates, number of guests and preferred safari package for assistance with your itinerary and availability.

Best Time for Tanzania Group Safaris – 2027–2028

Tanzania offers excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities throughout the year. The best time for a group safari depends on seasonal rainfall, vegetation, wildlife movements and your preferred safari experience.

January–March: Wildebeest Calving Season

The southern Serengeti and Ndutu region are particularly rewarding during the wildebeest calving season. Large herds gather on the short-grass plains, often attracting lions, cheetahs and hyenas.

Travellers interested in calving-season wildlife should choose an itinerary that specifically includes Ndutu, as standard Central Serengeti group safaris may not visit this area.

April–May: Green Season

Seasonal rainfall transforms the landscape into lush green plains. This period offers beautiful scenery, birdwatching and generally fewer safari vehicles.

Heavy rainfall can occasionally affect road conditions and game-drive schedules.

June–October: Dry Season Wildlife Viewing

The dry season is one of the most popular periods for Tanzania safaris. Wildlife often becomes easier to observe as vegetation thins and animals gather around reliable water sources.

Tarangire is particularly rewarding for elephant viewing during the drier months, while Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater offer diverse wildlife encounters.

Wildebeest migration movements depend on rainfall and grazing conditions. Mara River crossings require an itinerary visiting Northern Serengeti and cannot be guaranteed.

November–December: Short Rains

The short rains bring fresh vegetation, greener scenery and excellent birdwatching opportunities. Wildlife viewing remains rewarding, although occasional rainfall may affect road conditions.

Our Recommendation: June to October is ideal for classic dry-season game viewing, while January to March is particularly attractive for travellers interested in the southern Serengeti calving season. The most suitable travel period depends on your wildlife priorities and selected safari route.

Tanzania Safari Transport, Pickups & Transfers

4x4 safari vehicle overlooking wildebeest and zebras on the Serengeti plains in Tanzania

Most Tanzania group safaris depart from Arusha, the gateway to Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. East Africa Jungle coordinates safari pickups and transfers according to your confirmed itinerary.

Arusha Safari Pickups & Departure Times

Group safari pickups are typically arranged between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM for selected departures. Exact times and meeting points are confirmed before travel.

We recommend arriving in Arusha at least one day before your safari.

Airports & Transfers

  • Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): Main international airport serving Arusha.

  • Arusha Airport (ARK): Domestic and regional safari flight connections.

Airport transfers can be arranged in advance. Inclusion depends on your selected package.

Approximate Travel Times

RouteDriving Time
Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha1–1.5 hours
Arusha Airport – Arusha Town20–40 minutes
Arusha – Tarangire2–2.5 hours
Arusha – Karatu2–3 hours
Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater access area3–4 hours
Arusha – Central Serengeti6–8+ hours

Travel times vary with traffic, road conditions and safari stops.

Travelling From AFCON 2027 Host Cities

Travellers attending football matches in Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda can connect to Arusha by domestic flights, regional transport or arranged transfers. Nairobi travellers may travel via the Namanga border.

Allow sufficient time for immigration procedures and onward connections.

Safari Drop-Off & Onward Travel

Most road-based group safaris finish in Arusha. Final arrival times vary, so avoid scheduling tight flight connections or football matches immediately after your safari.
