Ol Pejeta Conservancy supports a diverse range of wildlife and is particularly well known for its rhino conservation programmes. During your three-day safari, game drives provide opportunities to observe both large mammals and smaller species across the conservancy's open grasslands, woodland and riverine habitats.

Can You See the Big Five in Ol Pejeta?

Ol Pejeta is a Big Five safari destination, with lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino occurring within the conservancy.

However, a three-day safari should never be marketed as guaranteeing all five species. Leopards in particular can be elusive, and wildlife movements and sightings vary each day.

Yes. Three days and two nights is enough for a focused Ol Pejeta safari, particularly when flying from Nairobi. A typical itinerary allows an afternoon wildlife experience on Day 1, a full day in Ol Pejeta on Day 2 and, depending on the return flight schedule, a final morning activity on Day 3.

Travellers wanting more photography time, additional conservation activities, private game drives or a slower pace may prefer a four-day itinerary.

2. How do you get from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta?

This fly-in safari uses scheduled domestic flights from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to an appropriate airstrip serving Ol Pejeta or the surrounding Laikipia area. Your exact airline, flight schedule, routing and airstrip are confirmed when the safari is booked.

Travelling by air reduces road-transfer time and is particularly useful for a short three-day itinerary.

5. Are the game drives private or shared?

The USD 1,295 starting package is based on shared game drives.

A private 4×4 safari vehicle can be requested at additional cost, subject to availability and the arrangements offered by your selected accommodation. Private game drives are particularly useful for families, photographers and travellers wanting greater flexibility.

6. Can I see the Northern White Rhinos at Ol Pejeta?

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to Najin and Fatu, the world's last two known Northern White Rhinos, which are maintained under intensive conservation protection.

7. Is the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary included?

The sanctuary cares for rescued chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are not native wild animals in Kenya, so this should be understood as a sanctuary and conservation experience rather than wild chimpanzee trekking.

8. What wildlife can I see in Ol Pejeta?

Ol Pejeta offers opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, black and white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and numerous other species. Leopards also occur within the conservancy but can be more difficult to locate.

Ol Pejeta is considered a Big Five destination, although sightings of individual species can never be guaranteed.

9. What is the luggage allowance for the Ol Pejeta fly-in safari?

For most scheduled safari flights between Nairobi and the Ol Pejeta/Laikipia area, the standard baggage allowance is 15 kg (33 lbs) per person, including hand luggage. Soft-sided duffel bags are recommended because light safari aircraft have limited baggage-compartment space.

If you are carrying additional luggage or heavy camera equipment, please let us know in advance so we can advise on excess-baggage arrangements.

10. Can I combine Ol Pejeta with Masai Mara or Samburu?
