This 5 Days Kenya Fly-In Safari uses scheduled domestic flights to reduce long road transfers and give you more time in the Masai Mara and Amboseli. Flights are operated by local safari airlines using light aircraft and generally depart from or connect through Nairobi’s Wilson Airport.

Nairobi to Masai Mara Flight

Your safari begins with a scheduled flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to an airstrip serving your Masai Mara camp or lodge. Flight time is typically around 45–60 minutes, although the total journey may be longer when the aircraft makes scheduled stops at other airstrips.

On arrival in the Masai Mara, your safari guide will meet you at the airstrip and continue with the planned game drive or transfer to your accommodation.

Masai Mara to Amboseli Flight

The flight connection between the Masai Mara and Amboseli depends on the airline schedule and travel date. Some routings may involve scheduled stops or a connection through Wilson Airport in Nairobi rather than operating as a direct flight.

Your confirmed flight schedule and transfer arrangements will be provided before travel.

Amboseli to Nairobi Flight

At the end of your safari, you will transfer to the appropriate Amboseli airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. The exact departure time is confirmed according to the operating airline’s schedule.

If you have an international flight departing from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), sufficient transfer and check-in time should be allowed between Wilson Airport and JKIA.

Safari Flight Baggage Allowance

Safari aircraft have limited luggage capacity. A typical allowance is approximately 15 kg of checked luggage plus 5 kg of hand luggage per person, but limits vary by airline, aircraft and route.

We strongly recommend using soft-sided duffel bags rather than large hard-shell suitcases, as soft luggage is easier to store in the limited baggage compartments of light aircraft.

Your final baggage allowance will be confirmed according to the airline operating your flights.

Flight Check-In & Schedule

Guests should arrive at the designated airport or airstrip according to the check-in time stated on the confirmed flight itinerary. Safari flight schedules can occasionally change because of weather, operational requirements or additional airstrip stops.
