Are Two Nights in the Serengeti Enough?

Can Wildlife Sightings Be Guaranteed?

No. Wildlife in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro ecosystem is free-ranging, and sightings of individual species cannot be guaranteed. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and wildebeest are among the species that may be encountered, while sightings of cheetahs, leopards, black rhinos and particular Great Migration concentrations depend on conditions at the time of travel.

Your guide plans each game drive around current wildlife activity, seasonal conditions and information available in the field rather than following a fixed wildlife checklist.

What Would We Recommend With an Extra Day?

If you can extend this itinerary to five days, we would normally recommend adding another night in the Serengeti rather than trying to fit another national park into the existing four-day route.

The additional Serengeti night creates more flexibility for game drives, allows more time at productive wildlife sightings and reduces the pressure to cover too much ground each day. Travellers wanting Tarangire or Lake Manyara as well should consider a longer northern Tanzania safari.

1. Is the Arusha to Serengeti flight included in the safari price?

Yes. The advertised package price includes the scheduled one-way flight from Arusha to the Serengeti. Your exact flight time and arrival airstrip will be confirmed according to the available schedule for your travel date.

2. Is this a private or group safari?

This is a private safari. After landing in the Serengeti, you will have a private 4×4 safari Land Cruiser and professional driver-guide for your party. You will not join other travellers for the overland game-drive portion unless specifically arranged otherwise. The scheduled flight itself is shared with other passengers.

3. Can children join this Serengeti fly-in safari?

Yes. Families with children can book this itinerary, and flying into the Serengeti can reduce the amount of road travel on the first day. Child rates and any minimum-age restrictions depend on the accommodation, airline and optional activities selected, so these should be confirmed for your family's travel dates.

4. How much luggage can I take on the Serengeti flight?

Safari aircraft have more restricted baggage capacity than international flights. A typical allowance is around 15 kg (33 lb) per person including hand luggage, although this varies by airline. Soft-sided bags are strongly recommended. Your confirmed allowance will be provided before travel.

5. What happens if the domestic flight is delayed or the schedule changes?

Domestic safari flight schedules can change because of weather, operational requirements or airstrip routing. If a significant schedule change occurs, we will adjust the safari arrangements where reasonably possible to coordinate your airstrip pickup and onward itinerary.

6. Can I upgrade the safari accommodation?

Yes. The standard itinerary uses comfortable mid-range accommodation, but it can be upgraded to higher-end or luxury tented camps and lodges. The final safari price will depend on the properties selected, season and availability.

7. Can I add a Serengeti balloon safari?

Yes. A hot-air balloon safari can be added at an additional cost, subject to availability and the balloon operator's operating area. Balloon flights normally take place early in the morning, so we will adjust that day's game-drive arrangements accordingly. Advance booking is recommended.

8. Will we see the Great Migration during this safari?

Possibly, but Great Migration sightings cannot be guaranteed. Wildebeest and zebra move through the wider Serengeti ecosystem in response to rainfall, water and fresh grazing. If the migration is a priority, we can recommend the most appropriate Serengeti region and accommodation for your travel month.

9. Are airport transfers included?

Transfers associated with the safari are included as specified in your confirmed itinerary, including the transfer to Arusha Airport for the Serengeti flight and your final agreed drop-off in Arusha. Transfers involving Kilimanjaro International Airport, additional hotel nights or travel outside the standard itinerary should be confirmed when booking.

10. Can I extend this 4-day Serengeti & Ngorongoro safari?

Yes. The itinerary is fully customisable. You can add extra nights in the Serengeti, include Tarangire or Lake Manyara, upgrade your accommodation, or continue to Zanzibar for a beach holiday.
