Detailed 8 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route, Tarangire & Ngorongoro Itinerary
Experience Tanzania's spectacular mountain landscapes and wildlife on this 8 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Safari, combining five days of guided trekking along the Marangu Route with two days of wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Starting from USD 2,550 per person sharing, this group adventure includes four nights in Kilimanjaro mountain huts, one night in Moshi, one night in Karatu and one night in Arusha.
Day 1: Moshi / Arusha to Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Trek to Mandara Hut (2,700 m)
Trekking Distance: Approximately 8 km
Walking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Montane Rainforest
Accommodation: Mandara Hut – Shared Mountain Hut
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Your Kilimanjaro Marangu Route climb begins with a morning transfer from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate, the starting point of the famous Marangu Route.
Upon arrival, meet your professional mountain guides, porters and support team before completing registration and entry formalities at Kilimanjaro National Park.
Begin your guided trek through lush tropical rainforest, where towering trees, giant ferns and dense vegetation create a beautiful introduction to Mount Kilimanjaro. Along the trail, watch for blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys and colourful birdlife.
The well-established mountain path gradually ascends through the forest towards Mandara Hut, situated at approximately 2,700 metres above sea level.
Upon arrival, settle into your shared mountain hut, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and receive a briefing from your guide about the following day's ascent.
Overnight at Mandara Hut, offering basic shared sleeping accommodation, mattresses and communal toilet facilities.
Day 2: Mandara Hut (2,700 m) to Horombo Hut (3,720 m) – Rainforest to Moorland
Trekking Distance: Approximately 12 km
Walking Time: 6–8 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Accommodation: Horombo Hut – Shared Mountain Hut
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast at Mandara Hut, continue your Kilimanjaro Marangu Route group climb towards Horombo Hut.
Today's trek takes you out of the dense rainforest and into the open heath and moorland zone, where the vegetation gradually changes as you gain altitude.
The trail passes through landscapes featuring giant heathers, unique alpine plants and expansive mountain views. On clear days, enjoy spectacular scenery overlooking Mawenzi and Kibo, two of Mount Kilimanjaro's most distinctive volcanic peaks.
Your mountain guide will encourage a steady walking pace, locally known as pole pole, meaning slowly, to help manage the physical demands of ascending to higher elevations.
Arrive at Horombo Hut, situated at approximately 3,720 metres, during the afternoon. Enjoy a warm meal, rest and prepare for the following day's challenging trek towards Kibo Hut.
Overnight at Horombo Hut, featuring shared mountain accommodation, mattresses and communal facilities.
Day 3: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) to Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Across the Alpine Desert
Trekking Distance: Approximately 10 km
Walking Time: 6–8 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Accommodation: Kibo Hut – Shared Mountain Hut
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today is one of the most demanding stages of your five-day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route climb as you ascend from Horombo Hut towards Kibo Hut, the final mountain accommodation before your summit attempt.
After an early breakfast, follow the trail across the spectacular Saddle, a vast alpine desert landscape stretching between the volcanic peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo.
The terrain becomes increasingly rocky and barren as the altitude rises, offering dramatic views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic formations.
Your mountain guide will monitor your condition throughout the trek, encouraging regular hydration, a slow walking pace and appropriate rest stops.
Because the five-day Marangu itinerary does not include an additional acclimatization day, careful attention to altitude-related symptoms is particularly important.
Arrive at Kibo Hut at approximately 4,700 metres, where you will enjoy an early dinner and receive a detailed summit briefing.
Rest before beginning the challenging overnight ascent towards Uhuru Peak.
Overnight at Kibo Hut, providing basic shared mountain sleeping facilities and communal toilets.
Day 4: Kibo Hut (4,700 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
Trekking Distance: Approximately 21–22 km
Walking Time: 12–16 hours
Habitat: Arctic Summit Zone and Alpine Desert
Accommodation: Horombo Hut – Shared Mountain Hut
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Your Kilimanjaro summit adventure begins around midnight as you leave Kibo Hut with your professional mountain guide and begin the challenging ascent towards Africa's highest point.
Using headlamps to illuminate the mountain trail, climb slowly through steep volcanic scree towards Gilman's Point, located at approximately 5,685 metres on the crater rim.
From here, continue along the crater rim towards Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres), the highest summit on Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent.
If weather, physical condition and altitude adaptation permit, reaching Uhuru Peak offers an extraordinary sense of achievement, with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro's glaciers, volcanic landscapes and surrounding plains.
After taking photographs and celebrating your achievement, begin the descent towards Kibo Hut for a short rest and refreshments.
Continue descending to Horombo Hut, where a well-deserved dinner and overnight rest await.
Important: Summit success is not guaranteed. Your mountain guide may recommend stopping or descending earlier if altitude sickness, weather conditions or safety concerns arise.
Overnight at Horombo Hut, with shared sleeping accommodation and communal facilities.
Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) to Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Transfer to Parkview Inn, Moshi
Trekking Distance: Approximately 20 km
Walking Time: 5–7 hours
Habitat: Moorland and Rainforest
Accommodation: Parkview Inn, Moshi – Deluxe Double/Twin Room
Bathroom: Private bathroom
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch; hotel dinner excluded
After breakfast at Horombo Hut, begin your final descent along the Marangu Route towards the Kilimanjaro National Park exit at Marangu Gate.
The trail passes through scenic moorland before returning to the lush tropical rainforest encountered during the first day of your climb. As you descend to lower elevations, enjoy the changing vegetation, fresh mountain air and opportunities to observe wildlife and bird species along the trail.
Upon reaching Marangu Gate, complete the park exit procedures and collect your Kilimanjaro climbing certificate, where applicable.
Celebrate your mountain adventure with your guides and support team before boarding your transfer vehicle to Moshi.
The transfer from Marangu Gate to Moshi normally takes approximately 1–1.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Guests generally arrive at their hotel in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on their trekking pace and the time spent completing park exit procedures.

Enjoy panoramic views from the crater rim before descending approximately 600 metres into Ngorongoro Crater for your wildlife game drive.
The crater floor supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and numerous bird species.
Ngorongoro is also an important habitat for the endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings are never guaranteed.
Explore the crater's open grasslands, freshwater lakes and woodland areas with your professional safari driver-guide, who will help identify wildlife and explain the area's unique ecosystem.

Marangu Route Difficulty, Altitude and Acclimatization
The Kilimanjaro Marangu Route is often described as one of the more accessible routes to Mount Kilimanjaro because it follows established mountain trails and offers permanent hut accommodation. However, climbing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres / 19,341 feet) remains a challenging high-altitude adventure requiring physical preparation, mental determination and careful acclimatization.
How Difficult Is the Five-Day Marangu Route?
The five-day Marangu Route is considered challenging primarily because of its rapid altitude gain and demanding summit day. Although the route does not require technical mountaineering skills under normal conditions, climbers must complete several consecutive days of trekking, including a strenuous overnight summit attempt that may take 12–16 hours, including the descent to Horombo Hut.
Cold temperatures, rocky terrain, steep volcanic scree and reduced oxygen availability at higher elevations add to the physical demands.
Marangu Route Altitude Profile
| Trekking Stage | Approximate Altitude |
|---|---|
| Marangu Gate | 1,860 m |
| Mandara Hut | 2,700 m |
| Horombo Hut | 3,720 m |
| Kibo Hut | 4,700 m |
| Uhuru Peak | 5,895 m |
| Descent to Horombo Hut | 3,720 m |
Acclimatization and Altitude Sickness Prevention
Acclimatization is the process through which your body gradually adapts to reduced oxygen availability at higher elevations. The five-day Marangu Route provides limited time for this adjustment because climbers ascend from Marangu Gate to Kibo Hut within three trekking days.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of age or fitness. Symptoms may include headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and loss of appetite. More serious symptoms, including confusion, difficulty walking straight or breathlessness at rest, require urgent attention and descent.
To reduce altitude-related risks, climbers should maintain a comfortable trekking pace, eat regularly, drink according to thirst and follow their mountain guide's instructions. Ascending slowly does not eliminate the risks of rapid altitude gain.
East Africa Jungle recommends considering the six-day Marangu Route, which includes an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, particularly for first-time high-altitude trekkers. Climbers should discuss their suitability for the five-day itinerary with a qualified healthcare professional before booking.
Important: Reaching Uhuru Peak is never guaranteed. Your health and safety must always take priority over summit completion.

Tarangire and Ngorongoro Wildlife Safari Experience
After completing your five-day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route climb, continue your Tanzania adventure with two exciting days exploring Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. This wildlife safari offers a rewarding contrast to Kilimanjaro's mountain landscapes, combining open savannah, ancient baobab trees and extraordinary wildlife encounters.
Tarangire National Park – Elephants, Baobabs and Wildlife
Tarangire National Park is one of northern Tanzania's most distinctive wildlife destinations, famous for its large elephant herds, impressive baobab trees and the Tarangire River, an important water source for wildlife during the dry season.
Explore the park in a shared 4×4 safari Land Cruiser with an experienced driver-guide, searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes and various antelope species. Lions and leopards also inhabit the park, although sightings depend on wildlife movements and conditions.
Between June and October, Tarangire's dry-season landscapes often provide particularly rewarding wildlife viewing as animals gather around permanent water sources.
Ngorongoro Crater – Big Five Safari Experience
The UNESCO-listed Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera supporting a remarkable concentration of African wildlife.
Descend approximately 600 metres to the crater floor for a guided game drive across grasslands, wetlands and woodland habitats. Look for lions, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, hippos and the endangered black rhinoceros.
Ngorongoro offers opportunities to encounter several members of Africa's Big Five, although leopards are elusive and sightings of any species cannot be guaranteed.
Together, Tarangire and Ngorongoro provide an unforgettable conclusion to your 8 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Tanzania Safari.
Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro and Go on Safari
The best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoy a Tanzania wildlife safari is generally during the drier months of January to early March and June to October. These periods offer more favourable trekking conditions on the Marangu Route and rewarding wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

| Travel Period | Kilimanjaro Climbing Conditions | Tarangire & Ngorongoro Safari | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| January–February | Generally drier, with relatively clear mornings | Good wildlife viewing and green landscapes | Excellent |
| Early March | Often favourable, with increasing rainfall later | Green scenery and good wildlife opportunities | Very Good |
| April–May | Long rains, muddy trails and reduced visibility | Lush scenery, fewer visitors and variable road conditions | Less Favourable |
| June–August | Generally dry, with cold mountain nights | Excellent dry-season wildlife viewing | Excellent |
| September–October | Often dry, with good mountain visibility; October can be transitional | Excellent wildlife viewing, especially in Tarangire | Excellent |
| November | Short rains and more variable trekking conditions | Green landscapes and good birdwatching | Fair |
| December | Improving conditions in some weeks, but rainfall remains possible | Green-season wildlife and attractive scenery | Good |
For this combined Kilimanjaro and Tanzania safari, January–February and June–October are generally the most favourable travel periods, offering relatively drier mountain conditions and rewarding wildlife viewing opportunities.
January–February: Often provides good climbing conditions, with generally warm daytime temperatures and opportunities for clear summit views.
June–October: The main dry season is popular for Kilimanjaro trekking and wildlife safaris. Tarangire is particularly rewarding as animals concentrate around available water sources.
March–May and November–December: Rainfall can make mountain trails wetter and visibility less predictable, although wildlife viewing remains possible. Conditions vary by month and year.
Our Recommendation: Choose January–February or June–October if you prefer generally drier trekking conditions. Regardless of the season, Kilimanjaro's summit can experience freezing temperatures, strong winds and sudden weather changes.

Travellers looking to join an existing group should contact our reservations team with their preferred travel dates and number of participants.
How Do Kilimanjaro Group Departures Work?
Our Kilimanjaro Marangu Route group tours combine five days of guided mountain trekking with two days of wildlife safari in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
The mountain climb is accompanied by professional guides and a support team. The wildlife safari operates in a shared 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof.
Solo travellers, couples and small groups are welcome to enquire about joining an existing departure.
We recommend arriving in Moshi or Arusha at least one day before the scheduled climb for equipment checks, a mountain briefing and adequate rest.
Mountain Safety, Professional Guides and Emergency Procedures
Safety is an essential part of our 8 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Climb, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Group Safari 2027–2028. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres) involves high altitude, rapidly changing weather and demanding physical activity.
East Africa Jungle organizes guided Kilimanjaro climbs with professional mountain guides, a dedicated support team, altitude-awareness guidance and emergency response coordination. Our five-day Marangu Route itinerary requires particular attention to acclimatization because of its relatively rapid ascent.
Professional Kilimanjaro Mountain Guides and Support Team
Our Marangu Route climbs are accompanied by professional mountain guides familiar with Kilimanjaro's trekking routes, changing weather conditions and high-altitude challenges.
The mountain team includes guides, porters and a cook who support the climbing operation throughout the five-day trek.
Our mountain guides are responsible for:
Leading climbers along the designated Marangu Route.
Maintaining a manageable walking pace.
Observing climbers for symptoms of altitude sickness.
Providing guidance on hydration, nutrition and rest.
Assessing weather conditions and potential mountain hazards.
Making decisions about continuing, stopping or descending.
Coordinating first aid and emergency assistance when necessary.
The assigned lead guide and support-team arrangements are confirmed for each departure.
Altitude Sickness Prevention and Medical Monitoring
Altitude sickness is one of the most important risks associated with climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It can affect climbers regardless of age, physical fitness or previous mountain experience.
The five-day Marangu Route involves significant altitude gains, particularly between Horombo Hut (3,720 metres), Kibo Hut (4,700 metres) and Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres).
Throughout the climb, mountain guides observe participants for signs of altitude-related illness and encourage immediate reporting of symptoms.
Important altitude safety practices include:
Walking slowly at a comfortable, sustainable pace.
Eating regular meals and drinking according to thirst.
Reporting headaches, nausea, dizziness and unusual fatigue.
Avoiding alcohol and unnecessary physical exertion.
Following the mountain guide's instructions.
Stopping further ascent if altitude-related symptoms worsen.
Descending promptly when serious symptoms develop.
Severe symptoms such as confusion, loss of coordination or breathlessness at rest require urgent medical attention and descent.
Climbers should seek medical advice before departure regarding their suitability for high-altitude trekking and whether altitude medication is appropriate.
Mountain Safety Equipment and Emergency Preparedness
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro requires careful preparation, experienced mountain guides and appropriate emergency response procedures. East Africa Jungle organizes guided Marangu Route climbs with mountain support teams responsible for monitoring climbers' well-being and coordinating assistance when necessary.
Our mountain climbing arrangements include guide-carried first-aid supplies, altitude-awareness guidance and emergency response coordination.
Kilimanjaro Mountain Safety Arrangements
| Safety Arrangement | Purpose and Availability |
|---|---|
| Professional mountain guides | Lead the climb, observe climbers' condition and make safety decisions |
| First-aid supplies | Carried by the mountain team for initial assistance |
| Altitude monitoring | Guides observe symptoms and assess climbers throughout the ascent |
| Emergency oxygen | Availability and arrangements confirmed for each departure |
| Pulse oximeter | Availability confirmed before departure |
| Communication equipment | The communication method used by the assigned mountain team is confirmed before departure |
| Emergency descent | Coordinated by mountain guides when required for climber safety |
| Kilimanjaro National Park rescue services | Additional rescue assistance coordinated when necessary and available |
Altitude-Related Emergency Response
If a climber develops worsening altitude sickness symptoms, the mountain guide will assess the situation and arrange an appropriate response. Serious altitude-related illness requires prompt descent and medical assistance.
Supplemental oxygen, where available, is an emergency support measure and does not replace descent or appropriate medical treatment.
Before Your Climb: East Africa Jungle will confirm the emergency equipment arrangements for your departure, including whether supplemental oxygen, pulse oximeters and communication devices will be carried by the assigned mountain team.
Travellers should obtain suitable travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking up to 5,895 metres, emergency medical treatment, rescue and evacuation.
Mountain Emergency and Evacuation Procedures
If a climber becomes seriously unwell, develops severe altitude sickness, suffers an injury or cannot safely continue, the mountain guide assesses the situation and coordinates an appropriate response.
Emergency procedures may include:
Initial assessment: The guide evaluates the climber's symptoms, condition and immediate safety.
First aid: Appropriate first aid is provided within the team's training and available resources.
Stop further ascent: A climber showing worsening altitude-related symptoms should not continue climbing.
Emergency descent: The guide arranges prompt descent when medically indicated.
Rescue coordination: The team contacts the relevant Kilimanjaro National Park rescue personnel when additional assistance is required.
Evacuation: Depending on the situation, evacuation may involve assisted walking, stretcher transport or another authorized rescue method.
Medical assistance: The climber is referred or transferred to an appropriate medical facility when necessary.
Evacuation arrangements depend on the climber's condition, location, weather and available rescue resources. Helicopter evacuation should not be assumed to be available or included.
Travel Insurance: Travellers should obtain insurance explicitly covering trekking up to 5,895 metres, altitude-related medical emergencies, rescue and evacuation.
Weather Conditions and Summit Safety
Weather on Mount Kilimanjaro can change rapidly, particularly at higher elevations.
During the Marangu Route climb, participants may encounter rain, strong winds, freezing temperatures, snow, ice and reduced visibility.
Summit night from Kibo Hut is particularly demanding because climbers normally begin ascending around midnight in extremely cold conditions.
Mountain guides assess the weather, trail conditions and participants' physical condition when deciding whether it is safe to continue.
A summit attempt may be stopped or shortened if conditions become unsafe.
Reaching Uhuru Peak is never guaranteed. Climber health and safety always take priority over summit success.
Responsible Climbing and Porter Welfare
East Africa Jungle encourages responsible mountain tourism, respectful treatment of support staff and appropriate preparation for high-altitude trekking.
Our climbing operations involve mountain guides, porters and cooks who assist with equipment transportation, meal preparation and logistical support.
Climbers should observe the confirmed porter luggage allowance, normally approximately 15 kg of personal equipment per climber, and carry essential items in their own daypacks.
We encourage responsible waste disposal, respect for Kilimanjaro National Park regulations and consideration for the mountain environment.
Five-Day Marangu Route Safety and Acclimatization Advice
The five-day Marangu Route is challenging because climbers gain altitude relatively quickly and do not have an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut.
Although the trail does not normally require technical mountaineering skills, summit night involves a strenuous ascent to 5,895 metres followed by a long descent.
For travellers seeking additional acclimatization time, East Africa Jungle recommends considering the 6 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Group Climb, which includes an extra day at Horombo Hut.
Before booking, travellers should consider their fitness, previous altitude experience, medical circumstances and available time.
Our team can help explain the differences between the five-day and six-day Marangu Route itineraries so travellers can choose an appropriate climbing schedule.
Why Book Your Kilimanjaro and Safari Tour With East Africa Jungle?
1. Organized Mountain Climbing and Safari Logistics
Your five-day Marangu Route climb includes professional mountain guides, porters, a mountain cook and accommodation in permanent mountain huts. After descending Kilimanjaro, the itinerary continues with an overnight stay in Moshi before the Tarangire and Ngorongoro wildlife safari.
2. Small-Group Safari Experience
Our shared Tanzania safari operates in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, accommodating a maximum of seven guests. Every traveller has a window seat for wildlife viewing and photography. Solo travellers can request to join existing confirmed departures, subject to availability.
3. Transparent Pricing and Accommodation
The 8 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Climb and Tanzania Safari starts from USD 2,550 per person sharing. We provide clear information about mountain huts, proposed hotel accommodation, tour inclusions, payment schedules and group departure arrangements before booking.
4. Practical Altitude and Climbing Guidance
The five-day Marangu Route involves rapid altitude gain without an additional acclimatization day. We explain this challenge before booking and recommend the six-day Marangu Route for travellers who prefer extra acclimatization time. Mountain guides monitor climbers' condition and prioritize safety over summit success.

Frequently Asked Questions About the 8 Days Kilimanjaro Climb and Tanzania Safari
1. Should I arrive in Tanzania before the Kilimanjaro climb begins?
Yes. We recommend arriving in Moshi or Arusha at least one day before your scheduled climb. This allows time to rest after your flight, check your climbing equipment and receive any necessary pre-climb briefing. The eight-day itinerary begins with the transfer to Marangu Gate on Day 1, so accommodation before the tour should be arranged separately unless included in your confirmed quotation.
2. Can I leave my extra luggage at the hotel during the Kilimanjaro climb?
Travellers can request luggage storage arrangements in Moshi before starting the climb. This is useful for suitcases and safari clothing that are not needed on the mountain. Storage availability, location and any applicable charges should be confirmed with East Africa Jungle before departure. Keep passports, money, valuables and essential medication with you.
3. Can I rent a sleeping bag, trekking poles and other Kilimanjaro equipment?
Sleeping bags are not included in this package. Guests should bring a suitable sleeping bag or request rental arrangements before arrival. Trekking poles and selected personal climbing equipment may also be available to rent locally. Rental availability and charges are confirmed on request. The Marangu Route uses permanent mountain huts with mattresses, so camping tents are not required.
4. What happens if I develop altitude sickness and cannot continue climbing?
Your mountain guide will assess your symptoms and determine whether it is safe to continue. If altitude-related symptoms worsen or serious illness is suspected, the priority is to stop ascending and arrange an appropriate descent and medical assistance. Summit success is never guaranteed. Travellers should have insurance covering high-altitude trekking, emergency medical treatment and evacuation up to 5,895 metres.
5. Can I join the tour as a solo traveller, and will I have my own room?
Yes. Solo travellers are welcome to request an existing group departure, subject to available climbing and safari places. Mountain hut accommodation is shared. For the hotel stays in Moshi, Karatu and Arusha, a private single room may be requested at an additional cost. Room availability, sharing arrangements and any single supplement are confirmed before booking.
6. How much luggage can I take on the Kilimanjaro climb?
You should carry a small daypack containing water, waterproof clothing, snacks, medication and other daily essentials. Your remaining mountain equipment is transported according to the confirmed porter luggage allowance. East Africa Jungle will advise the applicable weight limit before departure. Extra luggage should be stored separately rather than taken onto the mountain.
7. What time should I book my return flight on Day 8?
Day 8 is reserved for breakfast and your departure transfer from Arusha to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). The drive generally takes approximately 1–1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Your hotel pickup will be arranged according to your flight schedule, allowing sufficient time for airport check-in. We recommend sharing your flight details with East Africa Jungle before booking so the transfer can be coordinated.
8. Is the five-day Marangu Route suitable for first-time Kilimanjaro climbers?
The Marangu Route follows established trekking trails and does not normally require technical mountaineering skills. However, the five-day itinerary involves rapid altitude gain and does not include an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut. First-time climbers should prepare physically and understand the risks of altitude sickness. Travellers with more time should consider the six-day Marangu Route, which provides an extra acclimatization day.
