Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve – Afternoon Game Drive

Your safari begins with pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You will drive north through central Kenya, passing pineapple farms, highland scenery and small market towns before descending into the drier landscapes of Samburu. After arrival, check in at your camp or lodge and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, head out for your first Samburu game drive. This is your first chance to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators moving near the Ewaso Nyiro River. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Samburu – Search for the Special Five

After breakfast, spend the day exploring Samburu National Reserve with your safari guide. The reserve is famous for the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and gerenuk. You may also see elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, dik-diks and many bird species. Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Samburu to Nairobi

Wake up early for a final morning game drive when wildlife is most active. This is a good time to look for predators before the day becomes hot. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast, check out and begin the journey back to Nairobi. You will drive through scenic northern and central Kenya with short comfort stops along the way.
